When we found this, it was holding old paper clips and such. From our research we have found that this is from the year 1950. This tin originally held cough drops that were produced by the Iodent company in Detroit, Michigan. On the front it states: Quick Relief, Liqwid Center Cough Drops, Medicated, Soothing, Medicated Liquid Cough Medicine Sealed Inside, Handy Medicated Cough Drops, For the relief of Coughs due to Simple Colds, Dosage: Adults: 1 Each Half Hour, Children: 1 Each Hour, Children Under Six: 1 Each 2 Hours. Active Ingredients: Cocillana, Thymol, Licorice, Benzocaine, Menthol, Sugar Flavors.
The tin originally held 12 treatments and back then it could be purchased for 25 cents!
Measurements
The tin measures approximately 5 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide by 1/2 inch tall (with the lid on).
Condition
This tin in in good vintage condition. There is wear and discoloration, especially on the bottom. There are some small rust spots on the bottom part.
This would be a great addition to your medical item collection or as a display piece.
