We are offering this vintage tobacco tin that best we can figure out was used in the 1980's by John Cotton Ltd from Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a round tin and the lid instructions state that to open you needed to insert a coin under the lid and twist (we were able to remove the lid without a coin). The top of the lid states John Cotton's Finest Smoking Tobacco, No. 1, Mild. Our understanding that the company ceased to exist in the 1980's.
On the bottom of the tin it is embossed with the following: Net Weight 50 Grms., Made In United Kingdom. The lid is white with blue lettering and a red Scottish emblem. The lid has a small attached rubber gasket inside. The bottom is gold on the outside and silver inside.
The tin measures approximately 4 inches in diameter and about 1 1/4 inches high, with the lid on.
The lid has wear around the edges and some worn spots. The bottom of the tin has some scratches and minor wear. The inside of the lid, under the gasket has spotting. The inside of the tin has some dark spots also, possibly from moisture. The tin is in overall very good vintage condition.
