In the 1980's, The Franklin Mint produced these lovely diminutive music boxes which are from their The World's Most Romantic Love Songs line. This one is from 1984 and plays 'My Wild Irish Rose'. The lidded music box is made of porcelain and is hand painted with delicate Irish roses and blue butterflies.
The lid is also decorated in the same motif as the base/box and has the song title on the top. The edge is painted with gold paint. The lid lifts off to reveal the small gold turn key to wind the music box.
The interior of the box is a red velvet and that is where the turn key for the music box is.
On the bottom it states " The World's Most Romantic Love Songs, 1984 Franklin Porcelain.
Base/Bottom - 2 1/2 inches by 1 3/4 inches
Top of lid - Not quite 3 inches by 2 inches
This music box is in great condition. There is some very slight discoloration on the top of the lid, barely noticeable. The music box plays very well for its age. There are no chips or cracks that we can find. The painted design is also in great condition.
