Description

This is a vintage Heinrich & Company, H&C fine china covered casserole. It was made in Selb, which is a town in the district of Wunsiedel in Upper Fanconia, Bavaria, Germany. Try as we might, we were unable to pinpoint exactly when this piece was made, our best guess is possibly the 1940's. We did find out however the the style or design of the casserole is Anmut and we believe the pattern is called Mandarin, which you can see from the photos is quite intricate and detailed.

Heinrich and company was started in Bavaria, Germany in 1896 and in 1979 Villeroy & Boch obtained the company.

Both the bottom of the casserole and the inside of the lid are back stamped, please see the photos for more detail.

Measurements

From handle to handle is approximately 11 inches.

The lid is approximately 9 inches in diameter.

The base is approximately 4 inches in diameter.

Condition

There is wear on the gold trim, especially along the rim of the casserole base, by one of the handles. There is some dark spots/wear on the inside of the lid rim. The rest of the pattern is in good condition. There is one small round spot on the gold trim where the gold paint did not take, it doesn't appear to be a chip. There are no chips, cracks or crazing that we can find.
