This pair of vintage bookends may be the most adorable ones we have found yet! The set features a girl and boy, each dressed in black and white Victorian style clothing. The little girl is wear a black large brimmed bonnet and wearing a white dress and black shawl. The boy is wearing a white top hot, white clothes with a black jacket.
This pair is weighted with what sounds like sand inside. Each is marked with a leaf or flower that has a 'K' inside and dots forming a half circle over the top of the 'K'. Across the bottom of the leaf/flower is a banner with the word JAPAN inside. We found a similar mark in our research that dates to the 1920's-1940's, though we were unable to find a definitive answer to when exactly this pair was produced.
Each one is just over 5 inches tall and and each is about 4 inches long.
Each one as crazing throughout. There are felt pieces attached to the bottom of each one. There is wear on the back side of the boy and on the bottom of each bookend. There are no cracks or chips that we can find.
