Description

These would be a great gift for the bowling enthusiast in your life, or add it to your vintage made in Japan ceramic collection. This pair was probably made sometime between the 1940's-1950's in Japan and imported to the US. Each one is black with gold paint highlights. The bowlers are standing on a book, next to a standing book. Each one is marked JAPAN on one side, though the name JAPAN is faded on one of the bookends. These are ceramic redware. These each have a small pen holder hole in the back, unfortunately the pens are missing.

There are two holes in the bottom of the base where sand can be added to add weight to these so they can hold up your books a little bit better.

Measurements

One bookend is slightly taller than the other and stands approximately 6 inches tall. The base is approximately 3 inches by 1 3/4 inches.

Condition

Some of the gold paint has worn off, most noticeably on the top of the bowler's heads. There are no chips, cracks or crazing that we can find.
