Description

Southern Potteries started business as the Clinchfield Pottery around 1918. The name became Southern Potteries in 1920 and later on became known as Blue RIdge China Company. Southern Potteries was sold in the late 1950's and closed.

Local people were employed and taught how to handpaint the various patterns, each doing one area or part of the painting and passing it along, thus making it easy to change patterns quickly. Southern Potteries sold thousands of pieces in the 1940's as theatre premiums and became quick successful during this time.

This berry or dessert bowl is unmarked and we came up with two different names for this pattern; Bluebell Bouquet or Spring Garden. It is handpainted on a Candlewick china blank. The pattern features a red flower and a pink with red highlights flower bud with some bluebells and green leaves.
