Description

Abingdon Pottery was located in Abingdon, Illinois and began making art type pottery in the mid-1930's, which included these beautiful, majestic matte pink horse head bookends. Abingdon Pottery started out as Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company in 1908 and was know for making plumbing fixtures. During the depression, they started making art type pottery. By 1950 the company began once again concentrating on making plumbing fixtures.

These bookends are quite substantial and will do a great job of keeping your beloved books upright and in place.

Each one has an Abingdon label that states: Abingdon, Made In U.S.A.

Measurements

They stand approximately 6 1/2 inches tall. The base is approximately 4 3/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Each one has an Abingdon label that states: Abingdon, Made In U.S.A.

Condition

One of the horses has a repaired left ear, please see the photos for a close up of the damage/repair. Otherwise there are no other cracks, chips or crazing. The felt on the bottom of each bookend is coming loose and each horse has been stamped with the name Abingdon on the bottom. The labels are slightly faded but still readable and state: Abingdon, Made In U.S.A.
